I'm Going On An Adventure!

How appropriate that today is #InternationalWomensDay and I am about to embark on an adventure that has been 8 months in the making with three of the raddest chicks around?! In approximately three and a half hours, we'll be on our way to Scotland! Keep your eyes peeled to this space, as I do plan on blogging on our trip. We'll be hitting up Edinburgh, Inverness, the Isle of Skye, and Glencoe, so if you have any suggestions of places to go or things to try, leave them in a comment!
In the meantime, I thought that you'd all like to see a glimpse into the world that is my life. Last weekend, a group of friends decided to head to the Arizona Renaissance Festival out in Gold Canyon for my best friend's birthday. The Ren Faire has become a staple of Arizona life and culture over the last 30 years, and in fact was the very first place that I ever worked (shout out to my fellow serving wenches!)
I've had several friends over the years who have worked at the Faire as part of the Royal Court, and overall it's a place that allows me to embrace all the geeky-nerdy things that I enjoy. The artisans are incredible, and the performance troupes have only gotten better as the years have progressed. If you couldn't tell by our outfits, it was Pirate Weekend, and we had a blast!
Having a group of people who are so authentically themselves is one of the greatest gifts in a friend group. I find that this is especially true in a society that is dominated by the appearances of social media, where likes and followers equates to self-esteem and validation on a regular basis. As I get older, I am more appreciative of those people that I surround myself with who allow me to just be me.
